  14. This is one I thought I had licked:  System is a 4000 with 18 Megs RAM and
  15. a Maxtor 7850 IDE on the internal controller.  Recently, the drive
  16. started locking up the system whenever I tried to write to it, especially if
  17. I was trying to copy from one partition to another (there are currently 4).
  18. Usually it appears to work if only one end of the copy is a hard drive partition,
  19. but I sometimes get "unable to Load Program _________".  If I find that, I have
  20. to recopy whatever program it is.  The partition is never invalidated (unless
  21. it locks during a write), and AmiBack Tools never reports an error.  One
  22. common problem was the archive of IBrowse.  It would work fine, provided I
  23. decompressed it directly into the directory where I was going to run it.
  24. Otherwise I would get the error message when I tried to load it.  Maxtor
  25. technical support was no help (they blamed this weird computer called Amiga),
  26. and no jumper settings on the drive make any difference.  Any suggestions
  27. out there in Net Land?
